Devil’s Claw is native to the southern regions of Africa and gets its name from the hooks which cover its fruit. It has been traditionally used by tribal African peoples and Europeans, and North Americans more recently. Devil’s Claw is abundant in naturally occurring bioactive compounds, including harpagoside, phytosterols, phenolic acids, and flavonoids (kaempferol).
